Following on from an article in today’s Scotsman regarding National Records of Scotland, the body responsible for the country’s archives, scrapping its policy of informing local authorities about upcoming significant anniversaries of residents, I can confirm that Aberdeenshire Council has had in place for some months a facility for residents to notify the council of special birthdays or anniversaries.
Relatives, friends or neighbours can go online at
http://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/anniversaries/index.asp
or phone Members’ support on 01224 665033 or 665034
The council are keen to continue to mark significant milestones of local residents and encourage people to notify them of pending events.
My granda enjoyed a visit on his 100th birthday in 2005 from Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire, Sir Angus Farquharson.
