Queen's baton 2014

I am delighted to see that Ward 13 will be involved in welcoming the Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton on Sunday 29th June, 2014, as it passes through Aberdeenshire.

The Commonwealth Games in Glasgow will be an exciting event. It will be an honour for those carrying the baton to participate. The baton will travel 4000 kilometres around Scotland in 40 days. The baton will visit 400 Scottish villages, towns and cities and will be carried by 4000 baton-bearers before it is delivered to Her Majesty The Queen at the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony in Glasgow on 23rd July 2014.

The baton will pass through Stonehaven, Banchory, Dunecht, Kintore, Port Elphinstone, Inverurie, Oldmeldum, Turriff, Banff, Macduff, Fraserburgh, Mintlaw and Peterhead.
